Learn the ancient skill of making fire by friction in this half day, 3.5 hour workshop.
The day will begin with understanding the necessary elements, along with a demonstration. We will then refine our own kits, and put them into practise to learn the technique.
This is an opportunity to connect with this most vital of elements in a primitive and powerful way. Come and experience a re-kindling of connection with the natural world by learning this ancient vital skill.
A pre-prepared bow drill kit is supplied for each individual/parent-child team (to take home afterwards along with instructions). During the workshop we will be refining this kit to make it functional. Through this refining, we will further understand the elements involved, enabling you to craft your own kits in the future.
Bringing fire to life demands full focus and energy, not all may succeed on the day but you will at the very least leave with a bow drill kit and an understanding of how to progress and refine your skills.
Ages 12+. (all individuals below 18 are to be accompanied by one participating adult per child) This is for accomplished youth's who are familiar with using handtools.
Tools used: bushcraft knife, handsaw (for under 18's all tool usage to be overlooked by participating adult)
